After the global financial crisis in 2008, emerging economies like the BRICS countries have gained increasing prominence. Initiatives such as AIIB and BRICS Bank have been proposed and implemented, indicating a greater role for emerging economies—China in particular—in global economic governance. Meanwhile, the competition between those initiatives and the existing global governance system dominated by the West is deepening. In 2016, China will host the G20 Summit and will likely bring forward more initiatives to accelerate global economic governance reform.
Issues to be addressed at the Forum include but are not limited to the following: What are the contributions and problems of existing global economic governance? What progress has been made in global economic governance reform since 2008? How to understand the impact of AIIB on global economic governance reform? How to assess the role of G20 in global economic governance reform? How shall China design and plan the 2016 G20 agenda? What are the opportunities and challenges for China to serve as a host country of the G20?
All those issues will be addressed by a group of distinguished international relations experts in the forum and interaction with students, representatives from enterprises and government, and the media will be encouraged to facilitate further discussion.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the event.

ABOUT THE FORUM:
The School of International Studies, Peking University (PKU-SIS) will host the “Forum on China and Global Governance”. The forum includes a series of high-profile dialogues on China's diplomacy and International Studies.
The high-profile forum will break with the mode of conventional academic conference by conducting open dialogues in public. Each forum is designed to invite 3 to 5 prominent Chinese and international scholars from academic institutions or senior officials to discuss major global problems thoroughly and comprehensively. With such thought-provoking dialogues, we believe the proposed discussions will stimulate deeper reflections and thinking on China's diplomacy and international relations. Furthermore, the forum is also a good platform for think-tank scholars, foreign ambassadors and the media to participate in the dialogue. The forum aims to explore opportunities for the participants to make their contributions to the success of China’s diplomacy. We hope that the forum will help to reduce misperception and misunderstanding between China and the international society and strengthen coordination and cooperation in our joint efforts to address regional and global issues.
